Global Solidarity in 2025 – Trends in public opinion
By Anna Hope
Each year, Global Nation assesses the strength of global solidarity in its Global Solidarity Report. Its assessment includes global polling by Ipsos to track public attitudes over time.
This briefing provides a summary of the polling for this year and shows there has been a clear decline in public support for global solidarity across all indicators: funding global solutions is becoming less acceptable, support for international enforcement is slipping and the share of people identifying as global citizens is also eroding. This is a worrying shift at a time when cooperation is essential for tackling climate change, pandemics and inequality.
