Foreword by Erna Solberg and Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka.

The Global Solidarity Report 2023 presents the first ever attempt to measure the strength and resilience of the international community. Developed by Global Nation, with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and in partnership with Glocalities, Global Citizen, and Freuds, the report brings together world leaders, academics and experts from every continent.

Endorsed by figures including former Prime Ministers Erna Solberg and Stefan Löfven, and former UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, the report finds that in 2023 the world sits in the Danger Zone — where global solidarity is worryingly weak but still salvageable.

Drawing on data from 11 key indicators across identity, institutions, and impact, the report offers a powerful framework to assess and rebuild international cooperation. It calls for urgent collective action on climate, pandemics and global finance from a just transition to net zero, to strengthening pandemic preparedness, and reforming global public investment.

With contributions from leaders such as Mia Mottley, Avinash Persaud, and experts from the MIT Center for International Studies and the UN, the report offers a roadmap to rekindle global unity and deliver progress for people and planet.
